Paediatric Integrative Cancer Care

(Integrative Oncology Service for Survivors of Childhood Cancer)

Synthesis Clinic is the leading multidisciplinary integrative cancer care practice in the UK, offering a unique consultant-led integrative oncology service for children, teen and young adult cancer survivors.

Integrative oncology (IO) is a patient-centred, evidence-informed field of cancer care that intelligently combines psychological, nutritional, lifestyle and complementary interventions alongside conventional cancer treatments. Integrative oncology aims to support better quality of life, improve resilience, minimise the side effects of treatment and improve outcomes.

At Synthesis Clinic our approach to integrative oncology involves a consultant-led multidisciplinary team, delivering personalised care for children, teens and young adults affected by cancer throughout the UK. To find out more about integrative oncology as an approach, please see Dr Fuller-Shavel’s blog on the Oncio website here.

We are a Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered service for children and offer medical, nursing and testing services. Our non-medical supportive care services, including nutrition, physiotherapy and art therapy, are also all available to book alongside the medical support or as a stand alone service with appointments available online and on-site in Berkshire near Reading.

What is included in paediatric integrative cancer care at Synthesis Clinic?

We use a truly integrated approach where members of our multidisciplinary team meet regularly to discuss their approach to each individual and to ensure everybody in the team is united behind you.

What Happens During My Paediatric Integrative Cancer Care Package?

Please note that members of our cancer nutrition team are not able to work with integrative doctors outside our direct referral network, as we aim to keep an aligned and consistent approach. If you have other people apart from your oncology team involved in your care, you will need to notify us and discuss this with our clinic coordinator before booking in.

Please contact Katie, our Paediatric Integrative Cancer Care clinic coordinator, to discuss your needs and book in.

If you have any questions about our paediatric integrative oncology services or are unsure about the support you may need in your individual case, please contact our CNS and Paediatric Integrative Cancer Care clinic coordinator, Katie Hawksley.
